I agree. It's nothing but pride and arrogance. They don't need to go to the ESL extreme, but it wouldn't hurt anyone (American) to know Spanish as a second language. I was surprised how many more...

I couldn't find any "ciendo" in the dictionary (Tomisimo) In fact there were no words that end in "endo" or "ando" , or "ing" either.
