I now understand that "prepotent" is not a word commonly used even though "prepotente" is widely used in Spanish.

Now, "condescending" is a tricky word because my brain immediately...

So, I'm trying to find out the translation of "prepotente."

Encarta shows "prepotent" as "greater in power, force, or influence"

But when I say "El es una persona prepotente" I mean more...

You're right Jane! Mijos is a shortened form of mis hijos and yes, it's Colombian Slang, remember Colombia with an "o" not "u" It's how you would say hi to people you care for or you're close...

I agree with Alfonso, to me "gangoso" is more than "nasal" it also implies someone who is not very clear expressing his thoughts and therefore kind of annoying to listen to.....hmmm it's really kind...

My mistake, it's not osea it's o sea, 2 words meaning: "es decir" / "that is" very informal. No es una expresion para usar en un ensayo formal but hey, we need to learn "informal" too :D

Gracias, ahora entiendo.

Tambien cuando se dice "A nominal fee" creo que se podria traducir, "Una cifra módica" - osea un cargo pequeño.
