an interesting find

Hi everyone! I’m completely new here, just joined the forum I just wanted to share a little find, I love learning languages like many of you, and recently I came across a free game called Word Merge. The idea is that you collect words by categories, and the words stick while you play, so it doesn’t even feel like you’re studying. The app is free and available on Android and iOS, and I personally really like it. Maybe someone else will find it useful too.
I’d be grateful if you shared how you learn languages

sweet! I am downloading the app now. It seems fun.

I don't feel like I have been learning properly. but lately what I've been doing is that whenever i am just standing somewhere waiting I play Duolingo and Busuu on my phone. I also look for free or cheap classes to learn my target language.

oli.cmu.edu is great!! they have many language classes. You have to scroll through the search results, but at the bottom of the results you will find an under $15 class that just provides you with the material. So I just study that. They also have real classes but they are more expensive.

I also use edutin.com, they have tutorials/courses that are mostly taught in Spanish or Portuguese. I'm currently taking two from them now. one is a beginner Spanish and the other is learning JavaScript. Some of there tutorials are simply copied from other websites, but they don't make you pay money if you are just reviewing or studying there materials by yourself. There forums and chat are also free. They just charge you if you want a certificate from them or have a teacher review your work.

Then, when I feel comfortable, I watch videos in my target language. Youtube mainly, but dreaming.com is also good if you are learning Spanish or French.

I also use LLM's like Gemini or ChatGPT. Sometimes I just have a text conversation in Spanish with the LLM and other times I ask them questions about grammer or have them quiz me. I also upload mp3 files of myself reading simple Spanish to Gemini and I ask it to correct my tong placement and air flow.
