Ser with a 'weather expression'
Is it correct to use ser in a 'weather expression'?
Estos meses son muy fríos. Este invierno ha sido muy frio. I would generally go for these two: - Hace mucho frío estos meses. - Ha hecho mucho frío este invierno. Many thanks in advance.

Yes, it is correct.
When you use "ser", you're characterizing what the weather feels like and in the second example you're saying what the weather is like. I can't think of a better way to explain it.  - Aquí el clima es más bien seco.  Aquí casi nunca llueve- En la Ciudad de México la primavera es muy cálida. En la Ciudad de México hace mucho calor durante la primavera. - El verano en el centro del país es lluvioso. En el centro del país llueve durante el verano.
