¡Hola!

¿Qué sentido tiene la palabra "coliseo" en la siguiente frase?

"Los profesionales liberales que tienen en Nueva York su escaparate y su coliseo, habitan en Connecticut".

i think the phrase means they "have their shops and theaters in new york".

El Coliseo romano es uno de los lugares más visitados por los turistas. Podría referirse a que estos profesionales acuden frecuentemente a Nueva York, lugar en donde, además, se anuncian o exponen sus trabajos o proyectos (en lo que se refiere al "escaparate").

Es una idea. El Coliseo era un edificio muy importante en la antigua Roma, no se me ocurre nada más.

Por lo tanto hay dos opciones, la de Angelica

De acuerdo con Sosia. Sin duda, la interpretación de NY como el lugar donde se ganan la vida (exhibiendo su trabajo y peleando entre ellos) es una interpretación plausible.

El contexto dirá mejor cuál de las dos es la apropiada.
