Then you have another type of escort: a male escort or a female escort.

So you can say both bodyguard and escort

Does the gender of the term change with the gender of the person? So, if you're talking about the escorts that Maria Jose is talking about (I assume the kind that are illegal in most parts of the US), would a male be escolto?

Also, would this word be used for security? Like the secret service that guards the president of the country or something?

@Lou Ann: No existe "escolto" como sustantivo. "Escolta" es una palabra de género invariable para referirse a los guardaespaldas de una persona.

The kind of escorts María José is talking about do a different job: they accompany (not protect) people and can offer a variety of services, including prostitution.
But for those, at least in Mexico, they keep the word in English "escort".

Jejeje the word Escolto is very fun.

Here in Mexico is used the word Escolta with other sense.

And it's said as Guardespaldas even thought is exactly the same but doesn't the same kind to writing therefore, I believe that if someone has the exactly means of the word Guardespaldas, then I'll be grateful with you.

I'd like to have the translation too.

A veces cuando una persona necesita un transporte médico (evacuación, repatriación etc), necesita también lo que nosotros llamamos 'medical escort' (puede ser un enfermero/a, anestesista, o un doctor etc. )Depende de la gravedad del paciente/ de la enfermedad.

¿Cómo se llama estas personas en español? 'Acompañantes medicos' o hay un otro término?

Pues no sé. "Acompañantes médicos" no me suena . Existe "atención médica", podría ser. Pero cuando vas en una ambulancia, nunca vas solo, vas con un médico y creo que con una enfermera también, es obligatorio. Creo que no existe traducción, ya se da por hecho. Pero no lo sé seguro

Tal vez no hay un término específico por estas cosas en español.

asistente que te ayuda cumplir tus quehaceres
enfermera ambulante- que viene para cambier su vedaje
etc

To clarify a couple of previous posts on this subject, guardaespaldas is "Bodyguard" in english

In english a bodyguard is someone that is supposed to protect you. Someone that, for me, should protect you with their life.

An escort is a more broad term. An escort could be a bodyguard but could also be just escorting the person and not necessarily in charge of protecting them.

The final meaning that I can think of for escort would be a female prostitute but in this sense escort is a more respectful term for prostitute. A person on the streets would pay for a prostitute while a rich business man would buy an escort.

Puedo explicar esto en espanol tambien si quieren.

Nunca me gusta ser escolta porque es un trabajo pelígroso
