In some parts of Latin America "fregar" is not used with the real meaning of the word "to wash", "to clean" but with the meaning of "annoy".
"Deja de fregarme" "deja esa fregadera" (feminine) = "stop annoying me"
"Fregadero" with the meaning of "sink" is not understood by everyone in some countries and certainly not used.
As for being vulgar, it is in the sense that it's not "educated". But it's not obscene by any means.
