Yes, I think "don't be afraid" sounds a little "soft" for "no seas cobarde"
It's more "don't be a chicken" or "don't be a coward" For "don't be afraid" we usually say "atrévete/ inténtalo / animáte, etc" saludos ![]() |

But, sosia if you'll say it to somebody coward, I think what sound very strong the word, but if you'll say don't be afraid to somebody, it sound less strong and people won't offence.
