I would guess that this is a mistake in the subtitles. Do you have a clip somewhere where we can hear the audio?
I suppose "el notas" could be some guy's nickname, but it's not too likely.

No, no está errado. Es jerga española. Aquí decimos "el nota" (que yo sepa nunca lleva "s", tampoco me extraña porque en el norte tienden a marcarlas en exceso) como sinónimo de "tío", "tipo", "tipejo", "menda", "fulano", etc. En otras palabras, lo utilizamos de una forma similar al guy inglés.
