This is a discussion thread for the Daily Spanish Word for March 29, 2009
carcomer (verb) — to gnaw, eat away, consume gradually, rot, undermine. Look up carcomer in the dictionary Mi conocimiento del crimen me carcomía por dentro. My knowledge of the crime gnawed at me on the inside.

Obviously this is where the word carcamal comes from. This is a rather unkind word for an old man--like old geezer. Is there a female equivalent carcamala?
 I suspect not.

You use the same word for both a man or a woman, poli. The noun is always masculine, in either event.

some people make "carcamal" shorter, and say "carca" for style
"mi padre es un carca" Mi dad is an old fashioned/ My dad has the taste of an old geezer. Saludos
