Please, check this sentence
I'm not sure if the syntax is correct:
The Parliamentarians under Cromwell ended the war in August with a victory over the Scots (the Battle of Preston). Thanks.

Looks just fine. As for pj's correction of chileno's sentence, I think that saying "sure of" is fine, though just saying sure works as well.

Maybe it's a dialectal variation. I'm not sure what my internalised rule is, but I suspect it's
sure of + NOUN PHRASE sure + VERB PHRASE E.g. I'm sure of it. I'm not completely sure of his trustworthiness. I'm sure he'll do it. I'm not sure when I can come.
