'Ella' Pronunciation
Hi all, first thread for me & not entirely sure if this is the correct forum, apologies if it isn't.
I'm at the beginning of my Spanish journey & currently practising at home using Rosetta stone. The phrase that is making me pause slightly is the way that 'Ella' is being pronounced on the audio. The phrase is a simple, "Ella está cantado con un micrófono." Instead of a 'Eya' sound, it sounds more like 'Eja'. I have noticed this previously on a earlier exercise but could not find an explanation & it is my understanding that the letter Ll is pronounced like a Y with a slight L inflection as in 'million', so I'm puzzled by this 'Eja' sound. Can anyone shed any light on this for me as I'd like to get this kind of thing right early on before I get any deeper into my studies. Many thanks in advance for all your input. ![]() |

So I will keep saying 'EYA' for Ella for now. It is difficult when you don't have a teacher to refer to over these matters! ![]() |
