Correcto. You are being asked if you have heard the news... Generally people answer " have I ..." = que si Last edited by chileno; November 05, 2009 at 08:46 AM. Reason: to add "have I ..." |

This a very common use of "que". Usually this "que" is used to emphasize:
- ¿Has visto a María? ![]() |

Very interesting
![]() ![]() So, I suppose one could also say 'Si' instead of 'Que si', but it would be more to say, and if!!! (in Dutch we say ' En of..!), correct..?? Would this also hold true for 'que no' to emphasize that you would never consider/do/ think etc such a thing?? How would one say for instance: As if.... 'He asked me if I would consider borrowing him 200 euro's.. as if!' ![]() 'She asked me if I was going to see him again after he let me pay for the socalled romantic dinner.. as if!' ![]() How about 'not even/ don't even' ..? (would this involve 'ya' ![]() 'Don't even think about it...' 'Don't even get me started...' 'Don't even ask....' 'Not even in my (or your.. ![]() Oh.. one more.. how about ' and then some...' ..?? ![]() ![]() ![]()

![]() This is one of my blind spots in English due to the fact that in Dutch we use the same verb for lending and borrowing (lenen). ![]() As if.... ![]() ![]() Thanx irma for your comments!! ![]() ![]() ![]() So if I were to say ' don't even ask' e.g. this would translate as 'ni siquiera preguntarme/ pregúntame' ![]()

It's always a bold move to compare a Dutch person to a German...
