How about a "like" button on individual posts. Doesn't really add "rep" points or "do" anything except indicate that a particular post made me smile ... without actually needing to create a whole new reply......

I kind of agree... a "thank you" button or a "like" button would reduce a lot of off-topics and unnecessary chit-chat.
