I see this a lot. Is it a regionalism or slang for buenos días?

It's used a lot and understood all over, but it is especially used in Argentina.

I hear it a bit in Valencia, possibly as a calque from bon dia in Valencià.

I've always heard it used by people from Argentina. I understand it but don't use it.

"Buen día" se usa también bastante en México.

Puede usarse para sustituir "buenos días" y "buenas tardes". En general se usa para desear que la otra persona tenga un día agradable.

¡Es bueno oír! Es mucho más fácil pronunciar que "buenas tardes". Siempro evadir diciendo "buenas tardes" porque es demasiado dificil pronunciar correctemente.
