I'm still not sure I understand. Is it that "talla" is about a specific size ... small or x-large, etc. or size 14, etc.? And "tamaño" is a general abstraction - a huge house, a very tall man?

Use 'talla' when talking about clothing sizes. Use 'tamaño' for everything else AND when talking about clothing sizes.
By the way, outside of Mexico and Spain, they also use (or exclusively use) 'talle' instead of 'talla'. |

Quote:
5. m. Medida tomada para un vestido o traje, comprendida desde el cuello a la cintura, tanto por delante como por detrás. Otherwise, yup, "talla" is the common term.

I'll take note about that use of talle. Here it's used as Pablo says: "el talle del vestido", "tiene un talle muy elegante"...

En España también usamos "talle" para "cintura"... (y hay otros significados asimismo...)

In common speech tamaño is used to mean size among Latin Americans that I know, and talla is commonly used to mean size in Spain.
Is un vestido de talle a custom-made suit/bespoke suit?

I don't know in other places, but in Mexico that expression wouldn't be understood.
![]() Since the "talle" is the part of the dress/body between the neck and the waist, it makes sense to say: -Es un vestido de talle largo/corto/bajo/alto.
