My name is common... but not in the US. Patrizio is an international name(I say that because it can be phontically spelled in several languages). The spelling on my birth certificate is Italian..... It can also be spelled "Patricio" (Portuguese name that has migrated to other latino countries).

One of my husband's uncle's is called Patricio. It's not a very common name in Spain among the younger generations, but it's not unheard of. The feminine, Patricia, is a lot more common.

You last name Gutierrez must have went to the Philippines along with the Spanish that went there many years ago. I thought there was still a remanent of Spanish-speaking people in the Philippines, or are they all gone now?

David, I think I'll have to start teaching you some English and you can help me brush up my Spanish in exchange. What do you think?

You're right there Tomisimo! Its was by Gov. Gen. Claveria... anyway for more information of it you can go here for more info

There are still people who speak Spanish... though not that common as much as English-speaker... people who can still speak/understand Spanish mostly are people from Spanish-descent family who has still practice to know Spanish (like the Zobel de Ayala family), mostly wealthy family that originated and can trace their family through Spain or Spanish speaking country. Although there are still people who know Spanish by school (known school here is the Instituto Cervantes).

How I wish our former President Marcos didn't abolish Spanish as one of the official language , because before it was one of the official language and once thought compulsory in school... but now it was change to English

Well, I hope you got some good information there

I'm sure David was just writing to fast (probably multi-tasking... and men are not good at that, or so they say) But I was teasing him.
David, ignore the sexist comment above, it's just a joke. Although I suppose you had already noticed that.

Your name, Jorge Luis, is very common (nearly 10,000,000 hits on the Internet). I don't know about your mane, though. I would think that isn't too common.
mane = melena

That was naughty, Rusty. You don't know if Jorge breeds horses. He might even be a lion tamer... No offence, Crotalito. I'm just kidding.

Crotalito,
There are quite a few Jorges around. Especially among the 'younger' generations (30 year-olds and under).
Luis is a much more common name, or at least it was. My father's name was Juan José Luis (maybe not a common combination). There are still a lot of Luises, José Luises and Juan Luises.
Your whole name, Jorge Luis, suggests somebody of Latin American origin (at least to me).
Enjoy.
