Learning with /without grammar
I don't know if I'm posting this in the right place or not.
I'm just starting to learn spanish and I've heard a lot about that you need to have a natural approach that youneed to have just immersion in the language and you will learn it naturally. Other people say I can't get away from learning grammer. What do you guys think?

Re: Learning with /without grammar
Hola Nix
Ambas cosas son importantes. Pero te adelanto que la gramática es un dolor de cabeza hasta para los que somos nativos de habla hispana. Yo te recomiendo que lo practiques tanto como puedas, la gramática ya la aprenderás. Si en algo te puedo ayudar, mándame un e-mail. Que te parece si yo te ayudo con el español y tú me ayudas con el inglés. Mi correo es: stdnt_english@yahoo.com

I agree. Grammar is the foundation of a language. The stronger the foundation the better the speaking. Learn some of the basics like verb endings for present, past and future and your conversation will flow faster and you will have more confidence. Don't be afraid to make mistakes! Learn a little often, for example, 20 minutes a day is better than a one hour session per week. You will certainly learn by immersion in the language. Adding grammar will speed it up ;-)

As difficult as grammar may be to some people, I don´t think that you can do without it, at least the basics, if you really want to learn a particular language, of course it also depends on your reason for learning the said language. The need for immersion cannot be overemphasized.

I'm sick and tired of receiving American students who think they know a lot of grammar (and they know, but not as much as they think) and cannot speak a word of Spanish.
Yes, of course: study grammar. That will not harm you.
