Oh yeah, that makes sense.

In English we have "oof", but it's not used very much, and almost never in writing.

I was talking about the Spanish "uff" or "uf":

The red is mine:
uf.
(Voz onomat.).

1. interj. U. para denotar cansancio, fastidio o sofocación.

2. interj. Indica repugnancia.

Well "oof" in English would definitely be onomonpeia.
