Divertir

Que bueno que vas a ver a tu familia, diviértete y disfruta este fin de semana. Y si estas mejorando tu español, sigue así practicando todos los días y mira televisión en español con subtítulos en español, eso ayuda mucho.

My friend from Ecuador and myself converse in Spanish almost everyday. This is his latest response to me via email. He is helping me learn the language. However, I'm sure he is very busy and can't take the time to make sure his sentences are perfect grammar for me. But I think something is wrong with this sentence. For example, I can't find diviértete in the conjugation list for divertir. Also, I need help with his use of "sigue asi practicando...". Does that mean "keep practicing...."?? Also, shouldn't he have put a period before "eso ayuda mucho." ??

Thank you,

divierte+te = diviértete (the verb is not divertir -amuse, entertain- but divertirse -having a good time, enjoy-)

divertirse ---> diviértame, diviértete, diviértase, divirtámonos, diviértanse

sigue así, practicando ---> keep it this way, practising

Yes, there's a period missing.

There are other errors you haven't asked about:

Y si estas mejorando tu español ---> makes no sense
Y si estás mejorando tu español ---> and if you are improving your Spanish
Y sí estás mejorando tu español ---> and yes, you are indeed improving your Spanish (this is what your friend intended to write)

(At least in Mexican --and it seems also Ecuadoran Spanish) The article may be ellided when people are talking generally about picking any kinds of TV programs. "La televisión" would suggest for us everything there is in Spanish TV or that there is only one thing one can watch on Spanish television.

There is need though to correct a few spelling and punctuation mistakes:

In Spain we say ver la televisión. Mirar la tele is to look at the tv set.
