Al canto

Voy al supermercado al canto.

Does this makes sense? Is this expression 'al canto' often used? I've never heard it used before...

I've never heard it in use. Apparently it can have a few different meanings. One that makes sense in this context is "immediately".

Voy al supermercado al canto. = I'll go to the grocery store right now.

Common in Spain, you can see DRAE:

https://dle.rae.es/?id=7DBlluB|7DCRVC3

a canto, o al canto

1. locs. advs. A pique o muy cerca de.

2. locs. advs. Inmediata y efectivamente. Sacó dinero al canto. Tendremos pelea al canto.

3. locs. advs. inevitablemente.

Saludos cordiales.
