The next book that I'm reading is an abridged version of Platero y Yo (1914) by Juan Ramón Jiménez Mantecón which is a work of prose poetry. So far the grammar is simple, but the vocabulary seems more uncommon. The themes of the book are vignettes from rural Andalusia, and so far I find it enjoyable.

Te he dicho, Platero, que el alma de Moguer es el vino, ¿verdad? No; el alma de Moguer es el pan. Moguer es igual que un pan de trigo, blanco por dentro, como el migajón, y dorado en torno--¡oh sol moreno!--como la blanda corteza. - Platero y yo. XI- El Pan Ch. XI

What do you think sol moreno could be? In other words, when is the sun dark? At dusk?

The sun is warm and golden, and I think the image refers to the brown-golden color of the crust.
