I wouldn't say 'end', but rather that we should move to the mountainous regions in Afghanistan, because most of that region is controled by separate tribes. I don't want to sound ignorant in saying this, but Iraq is good as is, in fact, once it was established that there weren't WMDs we should have left them alone. (I don't mean to sound heartless, but we should have let the UN make the call of tearing down the Iraqi government or changing the leader/ type of government.)
I will now take a moment of silence to honor those who have served.

Well, in my view point, I don't live in U.S.A, but my way to thing is would finish the war in Iraq, because it has died a lot of people in that country, the war is bad and sad to me, I don't know, and I don't want to know what's to be in a war but I know that is bad most for the people who lost to himself family in the wars it's mostly seen in U.S.A ,but anyhow there are soldiers who has died for the country with honor, with merit and courage, I feel more by the family of the soldier fallen in country far named Iraq.
Please we must to keep a minute of silence for them. Rest in peace all them.

Of course it was started by Bush.......I don't like war....I hate that innocent people are dying/died/will die. I applaud and take my hat off to all the veteran's of wars.....especially the Vietnam Vets...they have a special place in my heart.
I don't like the reason the war was begun either, I will never forget 9/11, I will forever pray for all those people who died on that day.... Most importantly......and I am ashamed of this one, I still feel very angry and damn those that are responsible. I may not agree with our country's politics or politicians or political moves, but I am still very much in love with my America..... no matter what other countries think. * * *

I know that the words is bad, that all was for kinda reason very strong, but anyhow, I don't agree with the word, because the war does not resolve anything, to the contrary that hurt more people in their country, because it not only attack to the people bad or to Osama, if not the war kill to the people who lives in that country as children, elderly, but I can't to do anything for that people, really I'd like to do something by them, but I can't, I only can pray for them, now with the new government of Obama all that will changes, and so the immigrants and the people of Iraq by end they will respire peace.

For many people in the world we don't love the united states, and we don't hate them either. Don't think if someone is not for you, he/she will be against you. It's not true.
There are many things I love about the US, but they are everyday things, like literature, some of the movie and music industry, some cities...definitely, not international politics...with all my respects to victims of war and their families, on both sides. Wait! I forgot the meatballs in spaghetti!!Yummy ![]() |

We as Americans in the US sometimes don't realize how the US looks from the perspective of other countries. Here's a question to all the Americans here: How would you react if there were foreign military bases with active ready-to-go-to-war troops on US soil? Would you be in agreement? Now, from other countries perspectives, consider this: The United States has military bases in the following countries. There are multiple bases in some of these countries. Some of the bases are permanent installations with 1000+ troops, fighter jets, bombers etc, and others have less military presence, such as a US manned anti-IBCM installation. Here are the countries: Afghanistan, Bahrain, Cuba, Djibouti, Ecuador, Germany, Greece, Greenland, Guam, Iraq, Israel, Italy, Japan, Kosovo, Kuwait, Kyrgyzstan, Panama, Philippines, Portugal, South Korea, Spain, The Netherlands, The Philippines, Turkey, and the United Kingdom.
I love America, but we need to be careful with how other nations view us. I think if we look at the big picture, the US has done a decent job of trying to help other countries and keep the peace, even if it's also in our best interest. And I think after war the US has been careful to return power to the people of the given nation where war happened.

I read a lot international newspapers and it has helped me form an internationalist view of the United States. Your question about how we would like foreign military bases on our soil is an interesting one, Most Americans would take great offense. Other countries react differently. They just accept it as a reality. The U.S.A. is still the military muscle of the western world. Some may resent us, but many see us as vital protection against enemy forces. The U.S.A. gets amazingly detailed
coverage in the foreign press. Who we select as a our leaders, and how we conduct ourselves internationally and domestically of great interest to the rest of the world. I believe we are seen as potential saviors or destroyers of western civilization. I don't believe that most Americans are aware of the daily front page attention we get in the foreign press, and how important it is for us to get it right. Example: if the Austrian or Italian people make a mistake a elect a fool to be their leader it's bad for them, and may have some bad effect on others. BUT if Americans goof, it creates all kinds of havoc including worldwide economic turmoir as current events now show.

Yes, David I understand the you wanna say in this text but, you must not matter in, What does think the people foreign above the military bases in another countries, I believe that it's the less important, your country has created havoc in another country foreign to the yours, anyhow you possibly are sensitive with the made of the destruction of the Torres Gemelas, I know, my country also has proper attack for the part of the crime organized, but anyhow my people always are fighting upon it, and you remember always the good people won, then the United Stated, as the first potency worldwide always wants to has troops in all the world and it's not good for the eyes of the people native of the place, but well, it's my own view point, I know to each country has propers problems with the society and we can't to do anything.

Before talking about food, I talked about literature, movies, cities. If Americans divide the world between people supporting them and people against them and are unable to see that some people may not care at all, this attitude only leads to war. I put myself on David's side. Americans don't have a lot of enemies here in Europe, but they don't have a lot of friends either. To my humble opinion, the world does not need a police force, and if it does, there is the UN. Again, as I said before, with all my respects to victims and veterans on both sides of any war. Yesterday we remembered the I World War, were German, French, English and other countries people faced against the other. We are trying now to be unite. This year was the first one one a "real" veteran. The last one died last year with 110 years. Here, in Spain, we do not celebrate it ( as veteran's day) but we are informed about the european events ![]() Allthough I think wars are stupid, usually the soldiers try to make his work good. May God help them saludos ![]()
