my grammar does not contain any info about "ello"
can you point me to a refence about this word please?

also, it contains little info about "eso, esto, aquello" are they similar forms? I mean what stands for these, it applies to ello too?

are there any other similar types than ello?

Yes exist the word Ella, ello, ellos, ellas.

The words ello and aquello represent unknowns (concepts or nouns). There are other such words, too.

There are a number of websites that explain the Spanish neuter pronouns and neuter gender. Just search on 'Spanish' 'neuter pronouns' or 'neuter gender'.

Ello es un pronombre neutro, como esto, eso y aquello y no tienen plural ni forma femenina. Supongo que "ello" no aparece porque se suele sustituir por "eso":

Es por ello por lo que fui a verte = Es por eso por lo que fui a verte

Ello es un pronombre personal neutro. No puede funcionar como OD, por lo que se tendrá que sustituir por el pronombre lo. Lo cierto es que su uso es escaso en español hoy en día:
