Talking Engrave it!/¡Grábalo!

Hello everyone..! ¡Hola a todos!

I thought it would be fun to do something else for a change.. (not sure if you will all agree with me but we shall see.. ).
I came across this rather fun/strange/weird little program today with which you can create your own tombtext..

Slightly macabre maybe yes, but there is such a thing as 'black humour' ¿no? Surely it exists in Spanish as well I thought to myself.. And so I thought, perhaps ths would be a fun, playful way to learn some words/ jerga/ dicho's / play on words etc etc.. It' s fun because it has to be quite short ..

To have a look at the generator yourself you can go to this site.

To save the picture after creating it, just rightclick on the picture and save it on your computer, or use 'properties' to upload it here.

Here are some samples of things we could do with it, both in Spanish and in English. Corrections are as always, welcome!!

Hope you all will like this idea.

¡Hola jchen!

Yes sure, as long as it is clean, good fun / a joke or it can even be serious if you like.. As long as it is not offensive/personal obviously.

It' s intended for us to practise short phrases and 'dichos' / expressions and words in Spanish and English

Feel free to let your creativity flow!!

Do you have a .jpg?

You can obtain it by rightclicking the image and then using 'save image as' so it will be saved to your computer.

I suppose you can upload them to the site or otherwise you could use e.g.

@Bob: "Aquí descansa Bob, cuya cabeza explotó después de aprender quince idiomas" would sound much better. (Despite the exploded head)

And: "Quince lenguas, ¿muestro demasiado optimismo?/¿parezco demasiado optimista? Probablemente cuatro me van a matar/probablemente con cuatro me voy a morir."

"Un poco demasiado" is not Spanish... Either "un poco" or "demasiado".

"Demasiado" is already a superlative, so no emphasis is needed there.

Muchas gracias!
Olvidaba que matar significa ""to kill" y ''morirse" significa "to die"

Ahora entiendo que ''un poco demasiado'' se contradice (contradicts itself)

¿Cómo se dice, "That is a bit too much food for me" (esa comida es demasiado por mí)

gracias por adelanto!

"Ésa es demasiada comida para mí" / "esa comida es demasiado para mí"

In English there is an euphemism (a bit/a little) for "too much", but in Spanish it doesn't sound good. "Un poco" doesn't work with a superlative for us, but don't think your sentence lacks anything.

"Entremitido" es "Entrometido"

What do you mean by "matandos"?

"Silencia" does not exist in Spanish. In any case, it's "silencio"

Well, I didn't know the Spanish equivalent of 'killer shoes'
You know, the ones that kill your feet because of the high heels or
discomfort, impossible to walk on (like her glass slipper).

So I thought maybe I could use 'matando' (from 'matar') ? (Guess not.. )

Oh oops of course, sorry Somehow it felt like a female word to me

But would I be able to say ' Vaya silencio!' as in ' Finally some peace and quiet'?

¡Gracias Angelica!

"¡Vaya silencio!" is correct when you mean that the silence is strange or surprising ("What a silence!").
"Silencio al fin" would be "silence at last".

As for the shoes... "killer shoes" might pass as "zapatos asesinos"... that would give pretty much the idea of uncomfortable shoes.
