I'm from Buenos Aires, Argentina.

Porteño(from port/that lives in the port) is only for people that were born/that live in "Capital Federal" (near +3/4 million). Bonaerense for people born/that live in "Gran Buenos Aires" (near +8 million).
So Buenos Aires is near 12 million people.
So porteño is only use in Argentina nowadays -i bealive. Generally 'porteño' is use in a despective way.

Welcome, Ookami. I have some friends in Spain that come from Argentina. There is an Argentine restaurant near my home and the food is delicious

A lot of argentinians traveled to spain in the crisis of 2001. There is any kind of food in the restaurant or they try to make something traditional from here?

I prefer Spanish/European food, too much meat around here.

Funny you should say that, Ookami! I LOVED the asado when I was in Uruguay. But I wondered if, after awhile, it would be TOOOOOooooo much meat!!

Yes, here we eat a lot of meat. Day and night: cheap good meat. I'm a "weird" exception maybe. The asado is a must especially if you have a house.

But meat... isn't to healthy.

Everything is from Argentina, there. Even the meat is Argentinian. What I've tasted is good if it's not too spicy (I don't like food too spicy). I tasted a "empanada criolla" and a sort of "embutido". I'll tell you when I come back again, surely tomorrow
