Editing posts

There seems to be no time limit on editing posts. Surely there should be? I use a lot of different forums for various things & they all have some sort of time limit.

Here for example http://forums.tomisimo.org/showthread.php?t=7187 the question was edited 10 hours after the original post, which created confusion in the first few replies & led to a complete misunderstanding of the question.

After the post had been edited, erroneous replies still followed, because posters were replying to replies, rather than the now edited question.

We all make mistakes, but surely it would be better to just post saying "oops - sorry I meant to say this " than going back & editing, therefore making the thread look confused.

If you are referring to cheek vs chick, that I know it was cheek when I replied, that's why I asked if it was a woman that "neighbor" referred to.

Robin has not said yet if he meant "que cara" or "chick"

Besides, it seemed he was quoting rather than translating.

And you? Aren't you supposed to be writing in Spanish?!

@xchic: Users can edit their posts 48 hours after they were published, and in the dialog box, the poster is asked for a reason why he/she is editing his/her message.
Although some users do not use this feature, everyone is encouraged to write as clearly as possible to make the forum useful and agreeable for themselves and for other members.

Surely you have duplicated post when you post something here in the forums.
Sometimes when the internet is low can result that you duplicated the post twice times.

Yes, and an editing feature is obviously very useful. I really feel that having 48 hours to edit a post is way too long though.

Exactamente! Imagina que xchic editó su comentario original ahora para decir que 48 horas es demasiado poco tiempo. ¿Qué confusion, no?
Bueno, me parece que siempre hay posibles mejoras en la forma de hacer las cosas. Habrá que valorar la sugerencias y ver si vale la pena implementarlas o no.

So you made a mistake?

We're all here to learn & practice aren't we? Mistakes will be made at times & I'm sure your Spanish has improved since September, so it's good that you noticed your own mistake.

I see no reason for you to go back & change it - surely if you feel you must, it would simply be better to quote yourself & correct it that way, showing how much you have progressed over the months
