I cannot think of any interesting expressions with bisagra in Spanish. The only related word that comes to my mind is the English unhinged (crazy, nuts...)

Nice. Try calling someone *desbisagrado and see what they think.

Try desquisiado. It's the closest thing in Spanish to unhinged.

How do you say in english "partido bisagra"?
Not so common in America (you only have two and a half ), but it's very common here.
It's a little political party who asociates with a bigger one to give advantages.

I never heard of the term partido bisagra,
but your description helped. We don't have them here. We do have
independent candidates that sometimes get big votes and cause problems
such as ocurred eight years ago in the disasterous presidential election in
2000.

A proposito, me gusta el hecho de que se dicen muchas veces "el presidente impopular" cuando se escriben de fulano en la prensa extraña. Si vamos a dejar quedarse en la oficina este burro ridículo, al menos quiero que el mundo sabe que a nadie le encanta. Por qué no lo hemos depuesto, no sé.
