However: I don't know in other countries, but "andar" in México can be understood as a synonym of "estar", so one would think your sentence would mean "she was around".
"Walked" would be better understood as "caminaba" or "andaba caminando y cantándose a sí misma".

El disco continuaba tocando. Quedó pegado en el mismo lugar. (That one has a bonus past participle thrown in for free....)
