@laepelba: check the Spanish dictionary (for example the Academia one).
Abbreviations "del lat." and "del gr." mean "del latín" and "del griego"...

The RAE still scares me. I go there sometimes and sit with my jaw open. I'm not "there" yet.

Don't be afraid... use the dictionaries and you'll start to understand much more.
And those abbreviations are right at the start of the definition, so it will be easy to find them.

Lo que es mas, laepelba; puedes buscar en ambos, RAE y Webster y veras la similitud de formato.
