This is a discussion thread for the Daily Spanish Word for July 21, 2008
miel - feminine noun (la) - honey. Look up miel in the dictionary ¿Prefieres el azúcar o la miel para endulzar el té? Do you prefer to sweeten your tea with sugar or honey?

Very interesting replies.
No sé si es igual en España pero en partes latinoamérica miel puede ser cualquier almíbar dulce. Para ser más claro, es una buena idea decir miel de abeja. Tambien oí miel-da o miércoles dicho cuando alguien no queire ser impolito y decir lo que quieren decir (mierda). En inglés usamos oh sugar! por el mismo efecto. Alfonso, ojalá que Andrea no tuviera halitosis porque después volvieras a quedarte con la miel(da) en los labios. ![]() ![]()

Poli, the word (Mierda), it's a word very vulgo, in our country, but, it's used for people of low class, the honey's some very delicious, here in Mexico there're places, where can you bay the honey directly from fields where the people called (Agricultores) extract the honey directly from the bees in the same moment.
Have a good day.

Poli, you make a good point that miel basically means "syrup" to many people and it's good to specify miel de abeja.
