There probably is a point where someone becomes "too old" - if we include persons who are becoming doddery anyway and having trouble following instructions in the native language.
I'm in my mid 40s and have spent about 3 months reading Spanish on the weekends and listening to CDs in my car. I feel like I'm better at it now than after two years of classes back in high school. It is the difference between "trying to learn" versus just sitting there waiting for the bell. |

Definitely if the motivation is there you will learn. The expression goes you can't teach an old dog trucos nevos, and there is always some truth in clichés, but there are always so many exceptions.

El único requisito para aprender otro idioma es que
ya sapes un idioma. The only requierement for learning another language is that you already know one language. Last edited by Villa; December 24, 2013 at 12:59 PM. |
