Math homework...need help
I'm good at math, but not exactly a math whiz. Current grade in math: 97
I need help with #33-35 of my math homework...well, maybe not, but I want you take a look...
ΔABC: given - D is the centroid. Use the given information to find the value of x.
33. BD = 4x + 5
BF = 9x
I know that BD is 2/3 of BF.
Do I do this -> 4x + 5 = 2/3(9x)
I got x = 2/5. Did I get x right and/or did I do it right to find x?
34. GD = 2x - 8
GC = 3x + 3
I know that GD is 1/3 of GC.
Do I do this -> 2x - 8 = 1/3(3x + 3)
I got x = 9. I'm sure I did it correctly...I just want to make sure my calculations are correct.
35. AD = 5x
DE = 3x - 2
I know that AD + DE = AE. Also, I know that AD is 2/3 of AE and DE is 1/3 of AE.
So what I do is this...? -> 5x = 1/2(3x - 2)?
...
I get 5x = 3/2x - 1. Now what?
