Te va en ello la vida

Hola a todos,

In a scene in the movie Carne de horca Juan Pablo, after the death of his father, goes to a gypsy woman to ask her where he can find Lucero.

- No te preocupes.

What does "Te va en ello la vida" mean? Does it mean something like "Don't risk your life"?

The scene in question starts at 20.48.

Thank you.

Yes. We say "your life is at stake," "your life depends on it," "your life is on the line," or "your life is riding on it."

You got it!

Doing that would imply life-threatening risks.

Risking your life is what you're paying for allowing yourself such action (te va).
