Bajar la testuz como el avestruz

Cuando el avestruz se asusta, dicen que se entierra la cabeza en la sable para que no ver al peligro. La expresión quiere decir: no tener el valor para enfrentarse a los problemas, o no tener el valor para ver a la verdad.

La palabra avestruz tiene una etimología muy extraña. Tiene su origen en la palabra griega strouthos = gorrión. Hace 2500 años no habia avestruces en Grecia, y cuando los griegos encontraron los animales en el desierto persa, creian que fueron gorriones grandes . Más tarde, los romanes les pusieron por nombre avis struthius (avis = ave, pájaro) en Latín. Es la raíz de Ostrich(inglés); Autruche (francés); Strauß (alemán); y Avestruz, etc. y el nombre de la especia (?) Struthio Camelis
