Today I was doing a lesson and confused cocina with comisa. So the sink was in the bathroom next to the shirt. lol I'm proud to say I had the grammar correct in my lesson though! In a different thread I mistook fuerte with fuentes.
Some words I don't think I will ever forget, some words I remember for a short time and some words I can't remember for the life of me. Then there are the words like I think you are talking about. The words that you know but can't think of them until you see them. Use it or lose it comes to my mind. I for one will be glad when I can type my thoughts out in Spanish without much effort. I already think "Well if I would have studied Spanish harder in High School I'd be speaking it fluently." Or a half a year ago. Now I don't want to think back to this time 2 years from now and say "If I would have stuck with the hard stuff instead of giving up..." |

Practice will help you. And reading will help you to acquire new vocabulary. When I find a new word, I look it up in a dictionary, but I don't pay many attention. When I find it again, I look it up again. The third or fourth time I see the word again, I ask myself: 'What does this word mean?'

Bueno, creo que "advice" siempre se escribe en singular. Es una de esas palabras puede significar una o muchas.
Nunca he escuchado el uso de "advices" en plural. Advices se usaría en los siguientes ejemplos: - El abogado aconseja que firme el contrato. The attorney advices to sign the contract. The attorney's advice is to sign the contract. Pero creo que Malila o Rusty te pueden decir con certidumbre si esto es correcto. Espero no haverte confudido mas. ![]()

"Advices" as a noun, no good, use "advice" in all cases, singular and plural, BrE or anywhere else...

I have that kind of trouble too. I haven't been studying my Spanish lately and there are already some easy vocabulary I forgot -_-
if you practice more, maybe say it out loud, write it down over and over, you'll get much better. |

Yes, always I'm writing the words, so I can avoid forgot them.
And it tend to be bad study for me, because all the days I'm over the writing in my house and the laptop and I write much for don't forget the words and new words, always I'm studying loud with my brain for sometimes it's hard to me.

I for one am glad I don't have to learn English. "I caught a big bass!" he said with bass in his voice. They are spelled the same, have different meanings and sound different. Then there are words that sound the same but spelled different and have different meanings. Almost no one uses absolute correct grammar all the time. Lazy grammar. A lot of people pronounce a lot of words differently depending on what area they are from. It must be overwhelming for non native English speakers.
Spanish grammar is difficult, but I'm just a beginner. I hope I'll get better. Verbs are absolute torture. :/ |

The words with grammar, they become to be hard for a beginner and well, sometimes the grammar change all the time, therefore when I learnt a word with the correct grammar, the people sometime tend to change the word and I tend to confuse me with the same word for with a different meaning. Yes Irmamar. I would prefer use advice instead of advices ![]() Thank you for your advice.

The thing that worked with me is just repetition in order to memorize the word. When you first learn a word look up the definition, try it in a few sentences and just get used to the way it's said so you can pick it up when it's spoken. In english there's a ton of synonyms that different people use for the same basic word. It's really annoying
