I came across an article in a Spanish publication where the term adepto refers to followers. Is this a common usage in Latin America?

AngelicaDeAlquezar is on a distinguished road

It's uncommon, because it's used by people with higher education and more vocabulary, but it was often used in the media when I was younger.
