This is a discussion thread for the Daily Spanish Word for August 13, 2009

aguja (feminine noun (la)) — needle. Look up aguja in the dictionary

Se rompió tu camisa, pero la puedo arreglar con aguja e hilo.
Your shirt is ripped, but I can fix it with a needle and thread.

¡Pobrecita!

Why is "on" the bed instead of "in"? I mean, uno está en la cama, dentro de la cama, tapado con las sábanas, colcha, etc. I thought it was "in" the bed". Wouldn't be "on" the bed for something that is over it (a cushion, for instance)

Cuando te vas a la cama a dormir.........you are in bed (no "the")

Las chinches.......are in the mattress

Tu ropa está sobre la cama ...... your clothes are on the bed

I guess a needle could be on or in depending on its location.
