The more important here is the personal capacity of the pupils in the learning inside of the career or degree, I believe that today the young doesn't take importance to the studies, they think that the life is resolved for fault of the parents who consent all the their needed in the home and social life.
Saludos.

It was my own point of view, I wanted to comment the quote.
Really I don't want to do some commentary referring me to your last post, it wasn't the intention.

--------------------------------- This thread, plus the pun thread, reminds me of a story from high school English class. We had to write two "Introductory Paragraphs" and were expected to show them to the teacher as she walked around to check if they were complete. Since I didn't have mine complete (I'll be honest here, I spent most of high school reading novels and not doing work), I took two of the graphs from my math class and pasted them to a sheet of paper on which I wrote "Introductory Pair of Graphs." When the teacher asked for my paragraphs, I showed her that sheet of paper. She looked confused for a minute and then she understood and her look got very sour. Everyone around (who had seen what I was doing before) started laughing and that made her even more angry. She told me I was going to get a zero for that assignment and stiffly moved on to the next person. I was trying so hard to keep a straight face while I showed her. I think I mostly succeeded but I burst out laughing the moment she turned away. I got zero sure enough, but it was well worth it.

Thank you for the corrections Angelica. I must be very talented, to fit so many mistakes in such a small area. The purple ones are supposed to be "inglés", "aburrida", y "esta", verdad?
I do have two things I'm uncertain about. You say that I should not use "por consiguiente" because I am not introducing a consequence of what I have written before, but I disagree. I was in fact stating that as a consequence of both my not having completed the assignment and of my having two graphs from Math class I thus labeled them "Introductory Pair of Graphs." Am I still incorrect in using it if this was my intended purpose? As well, I notice you have changed my usage of ser to estar in a few places. I am a bit confused as to why this is in the case of saying, for example, "when I was in high school." I was under the impression that if I were to say "I am in high school" I would use "ser" not "estar" (just like indicating a profession uses ser, or so I am told). In past tense then do I always use estar? (I see where I used ser and I shouldn't have in other places for different reasons, those were my own stupidity; I merely wonder about the situation of "when I was in high school"). Otra vez, muchas gracias por tus correcciónes. Te agradezco tu ayuda.

![]() Don't worry about the amount of corrections... they look always more and bigger than they actually are, and most mistakes will be corrected little by little, with practice. In the meantime, you're doing a good job by writing, reviewing and asking questions. ![]() Quote:
The action of labelling doesn't seem a direct consequence from not doing the homework and using material from Math class, but from your occurrence of playing a joke on your teacher, which hasn't been stated. A sentence like this would sound much more immediate for me: "Se me ocurrió hacerle una broma a la maestra. Quote:
But in principle, you're right about a profession or occupation, so you'd say "soy estudiante" (I'm a student), "soy carpintero" (I'm a carpenter), "soy mesero" (I'm a waiter), "soy economista" (I'm an economist). Now, "highschool is not an occupation, but a place, so "estoy en la escuela" (I'm in school) is the correct sentence, which is like "estoy en casa" (I'm at home), or "estoy en el cine" (I'm at the movies). And last: 1) Cuando estaba en el colegio. "Estar en un lugar" -> to be in a place. "Ser en un lugar" -> a rather philosophical statement that would mean that you can only actually be, if you are in a specific place. 2) Los párrafos eran ("ser" is right here) la introducción del libro que estábamos ("estar" here) estudiando. 3) No creyó I hope you'll find this helpful. ![]()

Very helpful, as usual. I will study my mistakes and attempt to learn from them all. Likely I will make them again nevertheless, but I will learn eventually I hope.
In the meantime I will endeavor to help more people with their understanding of English, as a way to express my gratitude for the help I have received. I make my own mistakes in English writing but for the most part I think I'll be able to help. ![]()
