Question Morning star
morning star 2. A weapon resembling the combination of a flail and a mace.

Would "bola de púas" work fine as a translation for "morning star" in the context of medieval fighting?

Or is there a better term?

Bueno, claro, "morning star" tiene otras acepciones y "lucero del alba" referido a "Venus" es correcto.

Lo de "maza de púas" creo que suena mejor que la "bola"... Gracias.

Yo también lo traduciría como maza de púas. "lucero del alba" suena demasiado moderno.
