Cinturón

This is a discussion thread for the Daily Spanish Word for July 19, 2008

cinturón - masculine noun (el) - belt, girdle, sash, waistband. Look up cinturón in the dictionary

La gente que en su trabajo tiene que levantar muchas cosas pesadas a menudo usa un cinturón ancho para apoyar la espalda.
People who have to do a lot of heavy lifting in their jobs often use a wide belt to provide back support.

Usamos un dicho así en inglés. You are going to have to tighten your belt
in the coming years. Significa que vas a tener que vivir en un modo mas
austero en los años que vienen

Supongo que el dicho, to tighten your belt, significa lo mismo con lo que dijo Alfonso, apretarse el cinturón.

How would you say, loosen your belt?

A adage, cuando sientas venir los dias dificiles apreta el cituron desde tu evilla y asi evitas llegar soltado al trancaso.

Al menos asi es el dicho que dicen por aqui.
