Question Hacer San Lunes

Haha siento mucho..

I wanted to say 'sorority' but my dictionary comes up with ' hermandad feminina' ?? It' s like a student's club at university, that you can join, and that does all sorts of activities.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fratern...and_sororities

Her group within the sorority (because they all had subgroups ) was called 'Poco Loco' - but I think they could have left out the 'poco' with all the mad & silly stuff they got up to..

Hope that clarified matters somewhat

Well not quite the same as in America, but in some universities (like the one my sister went to) there is more of a tradition yes. And they do the whole initiation rites as well which can be rather extreme, sometimes putting people' s health in danger... It' s called ' ontgroening' meaning literally 'de-greening' - to stop being 'green' or 'a newbie'.

Sometimes you read about these rather stupid (imho..) student pranks that almost go wrong especially in the 'ontgroening'.. And my sister' s one got up to some pretty silly things as far as I am concerned but then again in Amsterdam neither of both the universities that we have here here has a big tradition in these sororities (thank god..) and there are plenty of other occasions and possibilities to socialize so I never had to do that when I was at university.. It' s really so not my kind of thing..

I don't like them, either. You go to University to study, not to put somebody in risk. I'd like them if they were some groups to study something (to profound in some matter), or even to do another things, such as composing music, picture, etc. Cultural things, not strange things.

Ahora estoy jugando devils advocate.
¿Como se dice Devils avocate en español.? ¿Abogado del diablo?

Yes, abogado del diablo

When you're studying in a University, are you able to avoid these fraternities?

Thanks for confiming that abagado del diablo = devils advocate
