There are lots of possible translations, but yes, ¡Qué lío! = What a mess!
For rollo, there are lots of possible translations.

What an involved process!
What a tedious, boring job!

Si tienen un lío, that´s like saying, they have a problem.:confused:
Si tienen un rollo, I suppose means that they are having an affair.:?:
