Translating an article

Well, to practice I'm going to translate an article. I'll be translating here one paragraph at time. If I have questions I will mark them, but more than nothing I want the full text to be correct.

The Case for Hermits
Anyone who has ever protected a little boy from being bullied at school, or a little girl from some childish persecution at a party, or any natural person from any minor nuisance, knows that the being thus badgered tends to cry out, in a simple but singular English idiom, "Let me alone!" It is seldom that the child of nature breaks into the cry, "Let me enjoy the fraternal solidarity of a more socially organised group-life." It is rare even for the protest to leap to the lips in the form, "Let me run around with some crowd that has got dough enough to hit the high spots." Not one of these positive modern ideals presents itself to that untutored mind; but only the ideal of being "let alone." It is rather interesting that so spontaneous, instinctive, almost animal an ejaculation contains the word alone.

Cualquier persona que haya protegido alguna vez a un niño pequeño de ser intimidado en el colegio, o a una niña pequeña de una persecución infantil en una fiesta, o a cualquier persona natural(2) de alguna molestia menor, sabe que el ser de este modo fastidiado tiende a pedir a gritos, en un simple pero singular español: “¡Déjame solo!” Rara vez el niño de naturaleza(3) rompe en el llanto, “Déjenme disfrutar la solidaridad fraternal de una más socialmente organizada vida colectiva.” Incluso es raro para la protesta saltar a los labios en la forma, “Déjenme correr cerca de alguna muchedumbre que ha tenido plata(4) suficiente para llegar al punto culminante(5).” Ni uno de estos ideales positivos y modernos se presenta él mismo ante esa mente no adiestrada(6); sino solo el ideal de ser “dejado solo”. Es bastante interesante que tan espontanea, instintiva, casi ........................ (7) contenga la palabra solo.

1) Hmmm, I think it will be better to think about the title at the end of the translation.

2) "natural person" I'm not sure how to translate it here.

3) "child of nature" Idem . And I don't know if the "seldom" translation is accurate either.

4) & 5) I have problems with the entire sentece: around... had got dough... to hit the high spots...

6) untutored? In other contexts I would use "rebelde" or "pura", but here I belive they are inexact.

7) "almost animal an ejaculation contains the word alone." Translation?

2) "natural person" I'm not sure how to translate it here. Una persona que no esta exposada a las reglas de la sociedad. Si cononce la filosifia de Rousseau. Lo que escribio el esta relacionado con el significado de la "natural person"

3) "child of nature" Idem . And I don't know if the "seldom" translation is accurate either.Me parece que lo tradujiste bien.

4) & 5) I have problems with the entire sentece: around... had got dough... to hit the high spots... Hot spots son los sitios populares como
clubes, restaurantes, y tavernas. Hit the hot spots significa ir al eses
sitios

6) untutored? In other contexts I would use "rebelde" or "pura", but here I believe they are inexact.Untutored mind significa la mente que
no está exposada al mundo "civilizado". Una mente más espontánea.

7) "almost animal an ejaculation contains the word alone." Translation?
En este contexto la palabra ejaculación animal significa más que el resultado de un orgasmo de un animal:D, sino una cosa dicha con fuerza espontánea y el opuesto del superego que nos tiene cerrado y bajo los controles de la sociedad. Eso es el poder de la palabra alone cuando un niño dice leave me alone.

Creo que se refiere a "persona física" frente a "persona jurídica". Yo lo traduciría por "persona", simplemente.

¡Déjame ir con (run around with = asociarse, andar junto a) aquellos que hayan consegido suficiente plata como para llegar al punto más alto!

Es muy interesante que una eyaculación tan espontánea, instintiva, casi animal, contenga la palabra "solo".

En clase de traducción nos enseñan a no hacer traducciones literales, sino a decir lo que dice el texto que traducimos con un lenguaje habitual en español. Es decir, que el que va a leerlo no note que es una traducción. Por eso no te he puesto "bastante interesante", porque en este contexto me suena mejor "muy interesante".

Procura poner el orden de las palabras de tal manera que suene muy bien en español, como si lo escribieras tú:

Déjenme disfrutar la solidaridad fraternal de una más socialmente organizada vida colectiva.

Déjenme disfrutar de la solidaridad fraternal de una vida colectiva mejor organizada socialmente.

Intenta traducir algunos términos o expresiones por otras que sonarían habituales en español:

breaks into the cry
rompe en el llanto,
se pone a gritar:

It is rare even for the protest to leap to the lips in the form,
Incluso es raro para la protesta saltar a los labios en la forma,
No es frecuente que la protesta suba a los labios (intento mantener la aliteración original del inglés) en la forma de:

Donde ellos ponen una coma, yo pondría dos puntos.

Sí, Irmamar, tienes razón. Yo ahora lo que hago es poner la primer versión, que es la literal, y no la segunda que es la "libre" o la "natural" (que se deriva de la primera) Porque creía que es mejor que me corrigan la literal para ver si entiendo la gramática, más que la versión libre que, por ahí captando yo el concepto, puedo pasar por alto alguna errata gramatical o algo que parezco entender pero no es así. En fin, pondré la segunda y preguntas gramaticales y seguiré tus consejos.
¿Tienes algún libro para recomendar sobre traducción en general? (básico) Creo que me vendría bien leer algo de ello.

The English used is not strange, but, like the philosophical subject it covers, it seems high brow. Ordinary people do not normally intellectualise about the "natural man" and "children of nature" and 18th century French
philosophy.

Sí, tienes razón también al hacerlo de esa manera, así ves cómo se van traduciendo las palabras y las frases y, después, puedes transformarla a una versión más natural. Al fin y al cabo, es mejor que lo hagas como tú creas conveniente. :)

Los libros que yo tengo están editados por la universidad, pero si quieres puedo mirar en los foros de la asignatura, porque creo que comentaron algún libro o página web interesante. Ya lo miraré. :)
