Depending on what Chinese typing software you are using, you can type a "word" together. In my software, I just type huanying, and 欢迎 comes as the first choice. Those are the characters for "Welcome".

I saw your conversation with jchen, and I have an explanation.
88 is pronounced bā - bā, which sounds like "bye-bye". 8's also look like B's.
886 is "bā bā lìu", and is short for "bye-bye le". Le is a particle in chinese which is used at the end of sentences, often to indicate past tense.
It's Chinese "number speak", which evolved from text messages (SMS), it is much simpler to type numbers than chinese characters, so numbers that sound like words are used instead.
ex. 520 is a very popular one. 520=wǔ èr líng=wǒ ài nǐ=我爱你=I love you.
