It's a pity! I would have loved to drink a coffe with you in Café Martinez while we gossip about the forum members! ¿Sentís que tú español mejoró? ¿Tenés fotos? ¿Recorriste la ciudad o no tuviste nada de tiempo?
¡Saludos!

Sorry I didn't connect with you in BsAs. The workload for my courses was HUGE!! How was your visit in the US? I'm sure that your English isn't horrible ... it's just that you (like I) practice reading and writing so much and not the speaking of it ... that was definitely my problem in BsAs. I couldn't even have a conversation with the lady at the Cafe Martinez that I went to all the time.... I also need to start practicing!

I'm in Fort Lauderdale now, but this Monday I'll be coming back to Bs. As. ¡El Mundial es mucho menos importante que cualquier viaje!, but you can find Tv's everywhere... I saw our defeat in Nassau Island! but well, I like Germany a lot so...
I think you will have more time when you get adapted, right? Do you like Belgrano? and don't you have excursions with your study group?
Well, I've to go, later we talk! Suerte!

Edit: I go to Belgrano very often, if you want I can pay you a visit. But now I know that my English is horrible!, I couldn't have even a small chat while in the US! but well, I'll start practicing...

Yes! I am IN Buenos Aires ... and I am swamped with my homework assignments! I haven't had much time to enjoy the city. But that's okay - I feel like I'm learning a lot! Are you in the US? Where? Why did you leave for the Mundial??

Tu ingles es mucho mejor que mi español!! And ... I LOVE mate. I bought a mate (cup) and bombilla when I was in Uruguay this summer and found some yerba mate at a store here in the Washington DC area where I live.

Take a look at this thread: Viaje a Uruguay - I posted it before I left for Uruguay to see if anyone on this forum was familiar with Uruguay. No one even had been there. I assume you have ... ?

Argentina should be an add-on the next time I go to Uruguay!!

It's wonderful to hear from you ... I will "see" you around the forums....

Hi!

What a coincidence! i have lived in Uruguay four years.
The culture is very alike and the language too. The main difference is in the usage of some words -that aren't real spanish, like "burices" to call children...- and synonyms.(Form Argentina's hand: there are still some words in Lunfardo that are common, but they are very informal and obviously not spanish) But it's almost the same. If you understand an Uruguayan, you can understand an Argentinian the same way, and viceversa. The accent is a little bit different but that is almost imposible to develop correctly unless you live near an uruguayan! In Argentina you have many States with different accents(very very different).. Córdoba, Mendoza, Salta... etc.

The culture for me is equal... tango, mate, dulce de leche, gauchos, fútbol, etc. Even some lunfardo words are very common in Uruguay!

Thanks for the welcome and i'm glad i could help. Sorry for the mistakes i could made, I'm not that good at english... Yet!

Hola Ookami!! I have only been learning Spanish since October. This summer I visited friends who live in Uruguay. I LOVED being there!!!!! I know that the Uruguayan and Argentinian culures are different, but probably more similar than others in South America, correct? I would love to get any feedback that you might ever have for me regarding Uruguayan/Argentinian culture, word usage, pronunciation, etc. (I would like to develop a more Uruguayan accent...). Thank you!! Welcome to the forums! I have already enjoyed your first few posts.
