Hello there - thanks for the kind remarks. I am afraid I am rather conservative as far as development of language is concerned, so not everyone agrees with me. I have always been interested in etymology and the connections between Indo-European languages, so I tend to bore people with it. I have a very poor memory, and find that if I know where a word comes from, I remember it. Not everyone needs that, though.

I really enjoy reading your posts, and in fact learn quite a bit from them, especially thinking about the heritage of words. I had Latin in grammarschool but I remember it only fragmentarily these days.. You are very specific in your explanations and very precise in your use of language which is a rare thing to be found these days.
