There was an American Movie titled "The Jerk". I have not seen it but it's supposed to be a comedy starring Steve Martin. I should think that this movie portrays how a "jerk" acts in social settings. I think that some people are just awkward socially and do not know how to act appropriately in a group. However there are also those who seem to act outrageously in order to annoy others. Both may be labeled by others as "jerk".
