Does chiquito mean the same as niñito: toddler?

I saw it written somewhere. I assumed it was chico+ito. And I thought that niñito meant toddler, not just any child who is little.

"Chiquito" means toddler and some small thing, it depends if it is used as a noun or as an adjective:
Mira ese chiquito qué bonito es. Es muy chiquito este cochecito. |
Adding to Irma's explanation, the latest fashion in Mexico is to call your love-partner "chiquito"/"chiquita" (like calling someone "baby", I think).

Everyone beat me in the answer, but only I want to comment something else refer to this thread.
The word Chiquito also is used when you are referring to someone with love I mean. You can use that word when you are with your girlfriend or boyfriend for instance. Hola chiquito amor. I hope you can understand me. Sincerely yours. |
And then you have "chiquitita" ;)
