A game of cards :good:
A card game :good:

This I think depends on context, there is a difference.

'A card game' is a definition or description, but 'a game of cards' is less formal:

Poker is a card game in which bluffing is an important tactic. :good:
Poker is game of cards in which bluffing is an important tactic. :good:

But you would never say "Do you fancy a card game?:bad:" but always "Do you fancy a game of cards? :good:"

:thinking::thinking:

I'm explaining what is a "hand" in a card game/game of cards.

Then both are correct. I prefer the second, because I don't like using nouns as adjectives, but this is just my prejudice. :)

That's interesting, I'll take into account. :) (or well, I'll try to remember... )

Yes, but this is not the issue which @Irmamar was asking about. In English the singular could be either a game of cards or a card game. The question was whether when using the noun card(s) as an adjective, it should be singular or plural. After all, the game always involves more than one card, otherwise it might be a bit boring. So she is quite right in asking whether the singular is card game :good: or cards game :bad:.

Yes, Perikles is right  , but thank you, vita. :)

@Perikles, Sorry, you misuderstood me, I was not correcting Irmamar at all. I'm merely clarifying that if more than one type of card game is involved then it should be "card games". That would be the day when I see someone playing solitaire with one card!!!:D:D:thinking:

Do you mean in a casino, where several games of cards are playing?

If you play solitaire with one card, you'll always win. :D

:DYes! As long as no money is involved, unless, you want to bet against yourself...which is another story...:D

Not necessarily. The game could be to throw the card one metre into a hat. :D

Nuevo (nuevo se refiere a juego, no a carta), aunque mejor "nuevo juego de carta". No te corrijo carta por cartas porque solo hay una. :D

Primero pensé escribirlo "de acuerdo con tus correcciones", pero estaba equivocada. ;)
I would better say: "tal como lo has escrito tú". :)
